The Marlin 25 is a bolt action low cost 22 LR.  been arround for 50+ years (now called XT).  we have 3 or 4 in family.  all decent accuracy and reliable; except like rimfire CZ rifles the safety is backwards (forward to safe, rear to fire).

never hear or see anything about this long sellin rifle.  perfect for a first gun, not bad for old fart to shoot crows out of garden.

Sick today, so watching Swamp People shooting alligators...lots of old beat up/rusted 22 LR, most were Marlin 25.

Anyone have one of these by the kitchen door or in the truck?????

Both the older boys have one . Speaking of the .22's on Swamp People. My favorite was always the guy with the long hair and coveralls , back when the show first started, he had an old rusty Remington Field master 572 . I just love old pump guns.
Hope you feel better soon Bear.

I've got a Rem 572 pump 22.  use it for Squirrels.  couple of years I took it to MYGAWDS for gophers.

Interesting that you mention that dude.  The episode that I saw today he was just retiring the rem and the young ex-marine , his boat buddy (Ron Methvin) , talked him into an AR 22 DPMS.  their long shots are about 2 foot...not much gun needed, 10-22 would have saved him a few hundred!

Everyone except the overall guy (Bruce Mitchel) had  Marlin 49.

The boy went through 2 Model 49's. Seemed the barrels wiggled loose after about 50k though them. Accuracy was pretty good, but the Savage runs circles around it....even with the stupid trigger.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

I still have Rem 572, so many rounds through it, (brick a week, for years)receiver's worn out so much, bolt slops around until it locks. Always been my most accurate 22lr. Loaned it to ex-FIL before he passed away, neighbor kid stole it, I got it back few years ago. Beat pretty bad and outside pretty rusty, but it still shoots pretty good.
