We hit it HARD! No elk
We covered /scoped every square inch of my management hunt area.
Saw LOTS of week old tracks, saw one deer and NO antelope , sage hens, or sharp tail. We did call in a triple coyote , they snuck in on me and I missed one at 70 yards with the 45/70...

Had fun, got to try out our "Night eyes" head lamps for spotlighting coyotes. Did not see any .

Seems hunters out that way don't know how to drive on non-snow covered roads so the road crews designed them that way.

...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

Jsg;

You do know that Montana has law that prohibits non-4WD
vehicles from proceeding any more than one mile beyond
city limits or the same distance off paved roads. The
reasoning is that people can walk one mile back & have a
decent chance of rescue without involving very expensive
official rescue operations.

Of course is the potential rescuees are from a blue
state, the odds of survival go sharply downhill.
Particularly if they open their mouths.

Other then motor cycles, I was unaware two wheel drive vehicles existed in Montana! Other then the yard art of days past.

A 400 mile round trip day trip.
6 Hours of driving 8 hours of hunting and back to work at midnight HUMM I suppose it's do able.
But remember I'm like you and hunt year round anyway.

Great pictures and story D.

I think it's interesting that you find old abandoned cars
just out in the middle of nowhere. I have ran across
several over the years.

Good luck if you get back out there.

'47 Pontiac?

Indeed GM and Fisher Body. From what I can find, hard to tell Chevy from Pontiac back then except it looks like the Pontiac would have carried those three horizontal trim strips back to the rear fenders. Year is '47 for sure though. It's imbedded in the Style No 47-1007, which is the "Aerosedan" body style. Very cool. Nice project for you. Just drag that home and restore it. How hard could that be?
