Need to remove a bird that is blazing away at my cabin wall.

What pellet rifle would you suggest?

Bear,
  Any that would kill it.
We have the same problem around here with woodpeckers pecking major holes in neighboring houses, and last year in my squirrel house.  I also have several magpies that come and pull the baby sparrows out of my bird houses.
Just last week I told my wife that I was going to buy an accurate pellet rifle to kill those pesky buggers.
I have 8 bird houses in my yard and like the birds.  Earlier this spring we had a sparrow hawk kill a dove in my yard, of which I was feeding.  They have since migrate North.
I'm interested to see the replies from your post .
Trigger Control is knowing when not to pull it.

Good luck bear.
How far are the shots?
Your "Cabin" is it in the wood someplace you can shoot?
It is was me and if I could shoot I would get Bird shot in a 380 or some small pistol round.
Do they make 22 shot shells?

42 years ago I got the log cabin, then i would use a 22 mag for things.

Too many lib/dem/urbanites have moved in.

Air gun will be required.

yes they do Amazon.com : Seneca Wing Shot II PCP .50-Caliber Bolt-Action Air Shotgun, Hunting Air Rifle : Sports & Outdoors

but I'm thinking a pellet rifle with scope.  pecker shot will be 30 foot.  some 35 yard groundhogs would be a consideration.

Holy cow!Clap
I have a CHEEP plastic Crossman CO2 .177.
It is like a revolver inside 8 shots but it is made to look like a 1911.
The last two years I have killed over 300 cottontails.
All in my yard most shots are 20/25 yards.
It is amazing how well it shoots but you can tell when it needs to have the cartage changed, it starts to shoot lower but the pellet bounces off the bunny.

I diesel my pellets...
I sprits wd40 on to them in the chamber/cylinder.
It does not really "Diesel but it does seal up around the pellet and it shoots appreciably faster.

I find the 7.4 cheep pointed pellets shoot and kill better than any of the "Better" ones.

I have a Gammo Whisper that will easilly kill a Eurasion dove from across my yard. I'm guessing 30-40 yards. I'd guess w woodpecker is about the same size.

One thing about the rifle, They call it a "Whisper" but it ain't quiet. I think its louder than a subsonic .22 LR.

I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Does your whisper have a silencer 'thing' on the end?

No it doesn't. I think mine is an older model. Do the silencer things work?

Well, my gun closet it filled with stuff I seldom use.  So I found a Sherdan Silver Streak hidding behind an Italian double barrel.

This is a pump up gun in 20 cal.  Got some pellets ($30).

Need to sight it in.  when I bought it35 years ago, it was fastest made, and I did at that time buy a scope rail (3/8 inch)

I'm pretty sure that'll work just fine.

It's interesting you said it was 20 cal.

I was at the mom and pop gun shop yesterday and one of the regulars was talking about his 20 cal. air rifle. That was the first time I've heard of that. I've seen .177's, .22's and a few bigger ones but not a .20

The best of both worlds.
