They made these little guns for almost 60 years didn't they? Where on earth did they all go? I haven't seen an IJ Champion .410 for sale anywhere in years. Are they all closet queens these days?AW

I think that folks that have them hang on to them. Despite the "expert" tag on 410's (which I disagree with) they have a use and once you learn to hit with one and know their limitations 30 yards) they are a fun gun to shoot.

The ubiquitous
.410 caliber is NOT a "hit them on the wing" type of shotgun for most shooters. Hence the moniker............. EXPERTS GUN. Iver Johnson would be correct CB. |

I know a few that can IBD in fact I knew a kid in high school a year or two younger than me that had two Stevens double barrels a 410 and a 16 I saw him shoot trap with them and he was uncanny with either one. Of course he was closer to the trap with the 410. He came from Canada and told me he got a lot of practice wing shooting with them. folks do ok with them at Skeet too though the 410 defiantly offers more of a challenge. I will be the first to admit I did not buy H&R youth gun I modified for wing shooting. But I do have other opportunities when they are not flying. Some folks are just better at it than others. I did ok with trap with a 12 gauge, but the best I ever got in the 2 years I did it was a 23 out of 25. A lot of 19 though 21.s Never did get a 25. I suppose if I had kept up with it but it just got too expensive for me to do so. I never tried it with a 410. Probably won't either. LOL
