My stove jack will be arriving soon and i need some advice on where on my tent i should put it. I made the stove out of a 45 gallon drum and i have double walled 6" stove pipe. I really dont want to run it staight up and out the roof at the highest point in the tent as its 7 feet to the wall from the centre pole and i want a little distance from the stove itself and besides my propane lantern will be hanging off the centre pole. I would like the stove  to be on one side of the tent but ill also need advice on how far from the wall i need to be to stop excessive heat hitting the canvas. Feel free to copy/paste the pic in your replies with a mark to show me where you would place your jack. Also i cant figure out for the life of me how to properly close the door on this tent to keep rain and snow out. Its got 3 ties down each side of the door opening.

That is going to be  a tough one. I suspect the 45 gal Stove is going to run you out of the tent from the heat. General guide lines is that the top of the flue of a stove has to be 2 ft above  any surface within 10 ft  to draw correctly, but I'm not sure if that applies to tents. In any case, I think you will have to put your pipe out at an angle and secure it with cord or wire. You need to have your stove at least 2 ft from any flammable surface. More is better.

Thanx Saddle. I did cut the 45 gallon drum in half so its not a full size one if that will make a difference or not.

I like a stove to the left of the door, as I go in. Handy to stack wood out of the way.
