Fellas..I put my SIG through the paces this weekend.I was down on the river cooking a beef brisket most of the day Saturday alone,so I decided to shoot my P229 some and see what it will do.
I put 50 rounds through it at 25 yards.This time I took my time and really aimed.I was amazed a short barreled semi automatic pistol could shoot that accurately.
No malfunctions,jams or anything that would peeve you either.And I was shooting cheap Fiochi ammunition.
I am wanting a 45 ACP and think that SIG will get my money again.
I am not a pistolero by any means.I toted a 1911, and a m9 Beretta a bit in the military but they were last resort weapons and carried as a secondary weapon.Had a Smith and Wesson Model 66 wheel gun for a spell but I have realized that SIG is worth the money and that I am confident if I have to use it against someone with ill intent.
I think SIG has a lifelong customer out of me...

the problem w/ sigs is they very quickly become extraordinarily expensive - you can't just stop at one, and it sounds like a p-220 is in your future (or a gsr if you want a sig 1911). the thing is truly 'to hell and back reliable'.

the sig is the only open-sighted handgun i've ever shot that can truly run w/ 1911's.

enjoy your new addiction... might as well, because it won't go away.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

Funny thing about those SIGs is that they will eat anything you feed them. Glad to see yours is the norm...............Kingpin

Timberghozt;

I won't argue against the SIG's, but there is another brand of semi .45 that can run with the 1911 pattern guns.

Go lay hands upon either the H&K Expert, or H&K Tactical.  See if you can't find a range that'll let you test 'em out.

Neither is a carry gun, they are full-size, & are not comfortable for people with small hands.  But, what they are is accurate.  Yes, they're rather spendy, and so's a base 1911 + all the 'smithing needed to make it a target gun.

Now, if you want to get a big .45, go pick up the SOCOM, aka "The Hushpuppy", but eat yer wheaties first.

   Sigs are excelent handguns. I owned 1 for awhile, you really cant beat them. But i sure like my CZ 75B. Its about 200.00 less money and had note sites. Sigs just don't fit my hand real well, but i bet there 1911 is dynomite...tj3006
