RECREATION GRANT APPLICANTS
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks today reminded cities, towns and
counties, school districts, Indian tribes and others applying for public
facility improvement grants from the Land & Water Conservation Fund
and the
Motor Boat Facility Fund that environmental reviews should be completed
and public comment on the projects gathered in the coming weeks.
For each grant application, the environmental review must be
completed
before public comment is sought. To solicit public comment, applicants
must post an advertisement in the legal advertising section of the
nearest daily newspaper with the widest circulation.
Other means of obtaining public comment, such as town meetings
and
hearings are also encouraged. Public comment periods for the proposed
projects should be a minimum of one month.
Competed applications for both grant programs, including public
comment on the projects, are due at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks
office
in Helena, at 1420 East Sixth Ave., by Friday, February 24, 2006 at 5
p.m.
Application details for both grant programs are available on the FWP
web page at fwp.mt.gov under Parks and Recreation, then click on Grant
Programs, or call: 406-444-3750.
