bear: ive been through it all !!! of them all a cabin is the best !!!!! tent?? its ok , but putting it up and taking it down in the rain is a bitch... tent camper is the same as a tent, but a little better. the floor is cold but when you stand up its hot. 1 year we went our boots were froze to the floor and sweat bripping from the roof. trailers??? we got a 25 footer. man is this thing a pain in the ass to hook up . dragging it down the road you dont switch lanes as much as you should. you go from 18-20 m.p.g. with the truck to 10 or 12 m.p.g. trailers have some nice stuff in it, but alot you dont need. shower and bathroon??? if you dont have a dump station nearby its a pain. and if you get caught dumpping it in a hole they will get you . we use the bathroom as storage. ours dosnt have a dinning table. makes more room to move , but you cant eat at the table. the couch opens out to a ded, but if someone is sleeping on it and someone wants to sit down they have an ass in their face. i dont know where you plan to hunt , but i have beein a trailerr when we have gotten a snowstorm !!! couldnt get out till we ripped the canope. plus we were 3 miles in the woods and it was a pain to get it out . need a tractor to pull it out.

pick up campers are nice, but like i have said they are putting to much stuff in them.. plus when you get to where you are going to hunt unless you want to break camp your stuck unless you take a 2 nd way of getting around. if the camper says it will hold 5 , 5 is cramped

camper and trailers are nice cause you can leave stuff in till you are done for the year. pots pans and the good stuff. but then you got the winterizing thing. here we have to drain all water and pump in antifreezeand take out all paper stuffs. alot of people forget to empty out the fridg. then where do you store it ??? inside or just let it sit outside. the newer 1s have a 1 piece roof so its not bad sitting outside in the snow.

1 problem we have with ours is when you up hunting and it realy cold out and its warm in the trailer you get sweat on the doors and window. i have to replace the floor by the door. water dripps dpwn the front door onto the treshold and no matter how many rugs or how many times you mop it up it still gets wet.

so if i were to get another traler it would be about 20 ft. with a table and a big bed in the front and 2 sets of bunks in the back. the oven is realy nice to have . yo can cook alot more that just stuff on the cook top. but if yo get pamlets to start looking for the stuff i want all you will find it in are 27 ft. or bigger...

also get a generator !!!!!!! the battery will only last about 2 days without recharging with the truck. we take 3 or 4 batterys with.

     anything else???

Good points Mom.  But I think that you may be traveling with a "clan".  I'm thinking: either my brother (63 years old), OR my wife (over 63), and my self (ageless).  Never more than 2 and often only one.

The portapoti stinks, literally and figuratively.  I never let anyone use the head on my boat; and after some one did, I pulled it out of the boat.

I've been looking plain utility trailers, like they use for ATVs.  With some imagination they could be perfect and still let me carry my motorcycle and stuff.  One set of bunks and a small folding table that could be used inside or out.  All cooking would be done outside.

Nothing beats a cabin, and personally I love tents (prefer wall tents with plywood floors).

bear: i think bass pro offers a trailer like what you are looking for.. it has storage for a quad or othe rear in the back and then the fron part is living area... ive seen afew of them.. no matter how big you go when you have 3 kids taking everything there is , nothing is big enough...

but bear, remember 1 thing. IF THE TRAILER IS A ROCKING DONT COME KNOCKING !!!!!!!!!!

I used to work for a plant that made 5th wheels, motorhomes and campers such as the Slumber Queen and Kodiak models. Each one has its advantages or disadvantages. Like Mr Mom said "when it says that it sleeps 5, then its cramped". Maybe you could get something  custom built to your specifications but then that costs alot more. What you could do though is make a list of all the features you are looking for in a unit and send an email out to dealers and maybe they will have what youre looking for or know where to get it. Nowadays alot of units are being built with the sportsman in mind. Some campers manufacturers up here have boat loaders on the roof of some units and some have ATV carry units. I hope you find what youre looking for. My camper is a 1972 model called Tri-Star and its HEAVY. Its an import camper but you can see the weight of it as my leaf springs are just about bottoming out but nowadays the technology has come along way. I used to laugh at the prices they ask for these things when i knew how cheap alot of the stuff was that went into it. I used to install the windows, clearance lights and put the vents and other roof items into place.

If you can sue McDonalds for getting you fat then why can't you sue the alcohol companies for all the ugly people you ended up sleeping with?

Gary....Wait...don't take that 1972 out.

I know your propensity for road problems.  Can you say NEW LEAF SPRINGS!

33 years of sitting can flatten your springs.  I've been sitting on my ass for twice that long and my buns are flatLOL.

Get some new springs.  The local spring mfg charge by the Pound and they are easy to put on.  Sag!

Bear I've been there done that ,pop ups,box trailers ,pop up slide in campers,5th wheels, truck campers. The absolute best I've ever had was a Nomad 21' fifth wheel. The way it was set up was the all around best of the best. Three teenage boys, wife and 2 labs oh yeah myself. Took that thing through creeks, over rocks, sat out storms. The way the floorplan was it was perfect lots of room, pulled easy with an 88 GMC 1/2 ton
God,Mother,Country, and Hot Rods. Done with political crap.LOL
