I can't be the only anxious one here, been practicing quite a bit and am ready. I did get an S-coil stabilizer to try, and am impressed, it made a noticable difference over my old cheapy.

Stupid people are like a slinky, they don't serve much purpose in the world but they sure are fun to watch tumble down the stairs!

Scouting still.  Got a 13 pointer I've seen twice by my home stand.  Going to put one more tree stand (3rd) and a ground blind this week.

I can't take archery serious enough.  I spent 3 hours yesterday studying topo maps!

Love it.

Gear will stay the same.  Best gadget in my bag of tricks is:

bear: watch out for the string tracker !!!! i have used them and when they get out to about 20 yds. they drop FAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!also watch it if you walk in the woods with it hooked up !!!! when you get to your stand and look down you will find your way back to the truck fast... if you put a cork in it till you get to the stand dont forget to take it out.... kinda like carp shooting and forgetten to push the button on the reel.

String trackers.  although I seldom take long shots, I've hit and killed deer with them out to 52 yards.

It is a strange thing that I've found with string trackers.  The arrows actually shoot flatter out to about 30 yards.  seems the string drag on the back of the arrow pushes the rear down (like pulling up on the yoke of a plane).  this actually causes the arrow to rise.  After 30 yards the thing flattens out (angle is less) and drops fairly normal.

I have found that after about 3 shots or two trails, you need to throw the spool of thread away.  The pressure with which the string is wrapped  makes the internal spool take a set and the drag in pulling of line in flight is very high and your arrow will die.  Sort of like casting a spinning reel with low line, the bail drags the line when playing out.

I use a cork on mine for exactly the point you raise Mr. mom.  It is like looking down to see you are tied up in a spider web  line everywhere.

But even withthe downside you mentioned Mr. Mom, IMO it is great.  I talk you archers every year that after a beer say they lost a deer last week.  Never happen with a string tracker.  It is fantastic to give the deer 2-3 hours and then just walk up to the dead deer and gut it.  I've used it on deer that have run 50 -160 yards and died.  Yep, I'd have found them anyway 'cause they were well hit.  But I like a belt and suspenders.

I just got my bow from my mother's house last week. It has been there since March. Had to leave it behind to take along other stuff on the move. I need to get a block target, and start shooting. I've still got 2 full months before I get to hunt.

I got together with some friends last Sunday for a warm up shoot. The host has a thirty five target range. We were all shooting either recurves or longbows. Good practice, as we could see what distance we could reliably take a shot, and expect to stay in the money spot.

I'm headed for Utah September 1 for archery elk. I've got my Ultra Max all tunned up and I'm getting my calls all limbered up. We're hunting 22,000 acres of private land this year, first time I've had this kind of opportunity in years......I'm fired up and ready! Oh yeah!!!!

Well, I'm behind the 8 ball this year it seems.

I've got most of my hunting grounds prepped and ready.  Waiting for this stinking summer heat to go away   I hate summer.  I did put on a new fiber optic site on my bow but I haven't even had a chance to sight it in yet.  Season doesn't open for me until mid october  so I've got plenty of time.

My "to do" list is as follows:

Scout some more
Sight in bow
Set up a few more stands
Get fall food plots in the ground

That's pretty much it.  I am anxious though

And for the game trackers...yep, I've used them but they ALWAYS seem to get tangled on me.  I think I'm ditching it this year having strung about 400 yards of string in the dark on evening last year

I noticed that my post from last year was 4 days before KAtrina wiped me out. The bow is fine, and I am ready to go, but I hurt my shoulder Monday night. The darn thing hurts like hell.
