Morning fellas  >>  I'm thinking Blue Dot, Gold Dot (180) for the 10; Blue Dot, Gold Dot (155,165) for the 40.

This is where I'll start.  Any other components (bullet, powder) I need to be taking into consideration?

Thanks.  >>  klallen

kl,

AA 7 is a highly rated powder for the 10 mm. I use it exclusively and am very pleased. I load for max velocity as I use my 1006 S & W frequently as a backup sidearm when hunting. You can expect excellent performance with 180 and 200 grn Horn XTP's.

Now how in the He** did that last pic get in here.

Good luck, Gene

I don't know how that picture got there, but I do thank you for it.  It is currently the wallpaper on my work computer now.  Bless you, Gene.  Bless you.  >>  klallen

Hi Korey - Was checking my old loading log...... I was loading for my Colt Delta 10mm in 1991 when I finally was able to get a set of dies...the brass came from once fired factory. I remember I had to get the factory ammo outta "Kesslerings" gun shop in Washington state! Anyway for a bit of history:

1991 loads for 10mm:

175gr Lead SWC, 5.0 gr Win 252AA powder, CCI 300 primer, 900 fps [5" barrel]

180gr Lead SWC, 6.0 gr Unique, CCI 300 primer, 950 fps [5" barrel]

These loads worked so well I stuck with them having lots of above powder. They don't make Win 252AA anymore! There wasn't much for load data back then either. The powder charges are light cause I was using all lead bullets [with no gas checks].

1995 loads for .40 S&W:

175gr lead SWC 4.5 gr Bullseye, CCI 500 primer, 900 fps in Glock Model 22.

175 gr lead SWC 4.2 Win 231, CCI 500 primer, 825 fps in Glock Model 22.

180 gr FMJ/TC 4.9 Bullseye, CCI 500 primer, 950 fps in Glock Model 22.

Anyway, there's probably lots better bullet/powder combos today.....

S&W Model 1066 stainless 10mm.

Regards, Marcus.

Klallen;

.40 S&W, 8.7gr Blue Dot, 180 gr bullet, be it copper-washed lead practice or Speer, Win cases, CCI primer.  Produces 980 - 1000 fps out of my H&K USPc.  You'll have a little over 2" more barrel in the IAI & would get a little more velocity I'd think.
