Best S.I.G.s are, any auto pistol that they make. They are by far, superior to any 9MM, .45 ACP, .40, .380. .22 or any of a dozen calibers that they make. That aside, if you call them with a complaint, they will bend over backwards to please you. H&K makes a good pistol too, but to me, there seems to be a lot going on in the trigger, making them, to me, anti-confidence builders. If it's an indication, I don't have to repair many of them, but I do repair a few. The main reason that S.I.G.s need repaired is neglect. I have strict guidelines when I work on them. I need to know how many rounds have been put through them, to within a few boxes out of 5000 rounds. That's with all of them, mil and civ. I always ask. In that manner, I have an idea of what is going on inside. My personal P226 went with me to a shooting school once. I shot around 1500 rounds a day for 5 days and intentionally didn't clean it. The only thing I did to it in the way of maintenance was to lightly lube the slide rails and go to work with it for the day. At the end of a week, it looked like a goat puked in it, but I wouldn't have hesitated to go to war with it against a mugger or raghead. S.I.G. has a very good reputation in the gun world, for a good reason, they work..........Kingpin
There are times when a normal man must, spit in his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I just remembered that I have a couple of Para P-14 .45's too.

Kingpin - Canada thanks you for your support!

My turn to jump in... I also prefer to stick with S&W wheelguns & shy away from their 'auto loaders'... I recently had a nice S&W 1066 10mm with nite sites. It was probably the best S&W 'auto' I've ever owned... but I've sold it off in favour of a Colt Delta 10mm.

For "other" autos, I like the Glock 22's [full size] & 27's [compact] .40 S&W's for 'duty use' [mandated by my 'agency']... I also like my Browning HP MkIII's in 9mm & .40 S&W, too. But to me the Colt 1911 .45 ACP is still 'king'.

Although, I will admit that I do have one S&W 'auto loader' left a Model 4006 in .40 S&W... stainless steel with 4" barrel... not to bad to shoot but it wouldn't be my first choice from the 'toy cabinet'...

Regards, Marcus.
