Cold weekend.  But I got out calling to locate some 'otes in the mountains close to I-80.  Could get any howling going.  I was trying newer areas for future hunts.

At dawn my brother and I were in the woods hunting along a gas line on a large plateau.  About temp about 15-20, no wind.  As the wind picked up we hunted straight into the wind and moved about 500 yds between calling.  Crossed two tracks in the snow from late the day before.  No shots fired ( I lost one rifle round in the snow).  Bright day, hunted till 10:30 and took 2 1/2 hours to walk back to the car.

Great day.  I figured the cold night had everything curled up.  That is what I wanted to do.  Well, I at least got some exercise and some windburn that makes it look like I was in Florida for the weekend.

I need to get out and do that Bear.  Even If I don't see a yote at least I'll be doin' something.

Better quit dropping your ammo out there.  Pretty soon the yotes will start shooting back.

Somebody better call the Secret Service. Let 'em know there's an illegal alien in the White House...and it ain't the cook!!

The shell drop was from my new bolt rifle that has only a 2 position safety.  It doesn't lock the bolt handle.  So hiking from one location to another the bolt came open, caught on the packpack strap.

Now I uswually only carry a few shells so the loss of one can be a worry when you are 160 miles from home.  I had take 6 rounds yesterday, crazy me.  Guess I thought I'd have some shooting, I usually only carry 3-4.
