Well I HAD a US ARMY surplus hex tent with a nice liner, but I loaned it out to a guy and it was stolen. So I need a new winter tent soon.

As always money is a major factor. I have looked around and have found replacement cost for the same tent will be nearly $400. (I only paid $200 for mine a few years ago).

Any suggestions? Is there a better tent available for around that same price range?

For the 200 you probably won't find anything new, but you might find a used wall tent for that.

For a new tent I like the looks of Cabela's new improved alaknak with the rainfly. The one I saw set up in the mountains was a pretty nice outfit.

The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

SH, I have one just as you described, which I picked up years ago fro $75, andtheywere not hard to find. I took the liner out as my wood stove would get too hot inside. The door zipper is shot, but I keep this tent fro whenI go  by myself asI can put it up alone, and it will withstand the worst weather. However,it's not for sale.

Barring finding another one like it, I would look into a smaller wall tent with stove jack. Watch the ads after hunting seoasn. A lot of folks around here, seem to want to sell then. $200 is a little on the low side for about any decent heavy canvas tent now, even the mil surplus ones.
