You can machine wash all your wool goods, if you don't mind them
shrinking, say from a 36 inch waist to a 22 inch waist. They'll be a
bit short afterwards, too, like almost reaching your knees.
Some wool blends can be machine washed, most cannot. Check the label,
cleaning instructions are there. If it says "dry clean only", believe
it.

If you but supawool it is fully machine washable and will not shrink.Look for woool with the Australian wool symbol and you'll be pleasantly surprised. They even have pure wool suits you can machine wash.Sports wool is also fully machine washable.Older types behave just as trigger said and shrink but the new stuff is spun and processed differently.

You can machine wash it, but only use cold water, and hang to dry. Usually the pants will shrink no matter what you do on the 1st washing, but get stabile after that if cold water is used. It's pretty much like buying the old Levi shrink to fit blue jeans, Buy them 2" too big in the waist and inseam.
