I was the first guy here to try out the Leupold VX1 wasnt i!!!! I feel soo special . Just thought i would give you a quick report. Havent had any problems with it, it is just barely less crisp than the VXII (both 2-7x33). It has a tad less eye relief, but on 7x i am still very comfortable. I havent shot it too much but it hasnt had any problems with the 50 or so rounds of .30-06 180 grainers it has seen. It is sooo much better than that old Simmons Prohunter WE 3-9x40 i had on it. The eye relief on that wasnt hardly enough and i had to crane my neck forward on 3x! I have that problem on a lot of scopes, so i think i will try to stick with leupold. Just wish i could afford one to put on my new Savage mk2 GL. Maybe i will have enough when i start looking at muzzleloaders again. Maybe even for handguns again! Uh Oh! Here we go again!

         Eye relief problems like you describe, are puzeling. If you have to crane yur neck forward on 3 power, you probably mounted your scope to far forward. I would putit on low power and lossen the rings and slide it back abit.  As for scoping your 22 I would buy a cheap bushnell For a rimfireI would not want to spend muh on a scope.    ...tj3006

Tj;

I seriously disagree with you on the cheap scope for a rimfire.  Odds are way good that the .22 is the gun that NH will be shooting the most.

I'm not saying, like some, that it's gotta be in the Leupold class.  However, cheap scopes are REALLY bad these days.  I think that $100.00 of today's dollars is about the absolute minimum that I'd spend on a scope for anything at this time.  Truth be told, more like $125.00 for a good enough Simmons, Bushnell, etc.  No Tasco, no thank you.  Just got bit on the butt by that company last year.
