Hey guys, got my USRAC catalog today and saw something that interested me. It is a Winchester 1300 Black Shadow deer. I would get the 26" Vent Rib barrel for game birds and rabbits and such. The deer barrel would be nice for just another woods weapon, and if i ever get to go hunting down south (southern NH) it is shotgun only and there are deer everywhere down there. What do you guys think about it? By the way, i would get the 20 gauge version.

They have those around here pretty common for $200 or less. Seems to be a good buy, I'm not real keen on synthetic stocks though, especially on a shot or slug gun. Kind of harsh on the shoulder and cheek IMO.

Stupid people are like a slinky, they don't serve much purpose in the world but they sure are fun to watch tumble down the stairs!

Well, they also make a ranger version in 20 gauge so i could do that instead. I dont really like synthetic stocks either, just trying to think of a way to keep costs down.

You know, a lot of people talk down the Mossberg 500, but they are a pretty decent cheap shotgun. They usually go for around $240-$250 here. Not the fit and finish of an 870 or 1100 or anything, but I know a couple of people that have used and abused them and they keep on working fine.

BTW, I thought you already had a scattergun?? of course another would be good too.

Well, i have a borrowed ruger and a Stevens 94k single shot break 20 gauge. I really wouldnt call either as versatile as any pump out there. The ruger is going back soon anyways.

NH, get an 1100 and you will be satisfied for life. Any shotgun made by Winchester after 1964 isn't worthy of serious consideration. Fer Chrissakes, even the new Rugers are better than ANYTHING Winchester has to offer..................Kingpin

LOL. I was just looking at Remington 1100's when i saw your post. Imagine that. I could get the Classic Field 20 guage and be set! Do you know where i could find a cantilever barrel for the 1100 20 guage 2 3/4?
