Topic: Ruger Blackhawk or Vaquero Posted: 01 July 2003 at 10:32
Hey guys, i am planning on getting either a Ruger Blackhawk or a Ruger Vaquero in .45 LC. What are your thoughts on these two pistols. The Blackhawk has the advantage of being cheaper, but the Vaquero is more of a cowboys gun, which makes it appealing.

NH - The Blackhawk comes with an adjustable rear site, if that is important to you. I prefer the look of the Vaquero, personally, and if I was going for a Ruger single action it would be one of them in .357 Magnum.

There are still some convertable .45 Colt/.45 ACP Blackhawks out there.
I think the Blackhawk is a bit more practical, na d would make a better hunting arm.
The Vaquero, I think, finds its niche as a fun gun.

Hey triggerguard, there are loads of convertibles still sitting in the warehouse. I was there yesterday with my dad, who was giving some bankers a tour to see if they would refinance the building. They had at least a couple cases of 50 of them there. They also had some #1H's in .405 Winchester!

NH;
Unless you are going to get 'into' CAS, I'd suggest the Blackhawk also. Cases of .45 convertibles huh? Just laying around gathering dust are they? Seems to me a guy should be able to get one cheap then, huh? Huh? Huh? What's the younger Mr. Ruger want for one of those space wasters?

You cant buy them direct from the warehouse. Sorry. You have to get them through a gun dealer. They also had .357/ 9mm convertibles also. They have three floors of a huge ass building filled with guns. The market is extremely slow right now. They are moving out sooo slow. It is kind of sad seeing all of those guns just sitting there. I would take them all off of their hands for 250 bucks, but they wont go for it.
