actually, it's the art of big game hunting in north america, but i couldn't fit that all up there.

has anyone else read this? i am not quite through it, but i have learned one heck of a lot just what i have read so far! the more i read, the more i like and admire the guy.

still, i will have to take white-out and replace every ".270" in the book with ".308!"

all-in-all, it's a great book!

If it hadn't been for Jack O'Connor, the .270 Winchester wouldn't have made it.

I read that book some time ago. O'Connor was quite a sportsman and writer. Some of his best writings - at least the most interesting to me - were when he got into arguments in print with Elmer Keith. I sided with Keith's ideas, but O'Connor could still put out some very convincing (almost) theories.

I read it years ago along with several of his other books. I read every one of his articles in Outdoor Life that I could. Thats why I'm hooked on the .270. As soon as I got a job I bought a .270 with my first paycheck. That was in 1967, I still have the gun and it is still my favorite. I've shot a lot of game with that gun over the years, it's kinda like my best friend. And I owe it all to Jack O'Connor. I also read Elmer's articles but, leaned more towards O'connor, what he said worked. I need to dig out those old books and read them again.
