Ok guys, i have a dilema. Do i want to scope my muzzleloader or leave it unscoped? I could also put on a T/C peep sight that wouldnt be too bad, but i am wondering if i should put the 2.5x Redfield scope on it.

that 2.5 would probably work like a charm, and a little magnification never hurt anything.

Hey spotshooter, i would mostly be hunting whitetails, with the occasional boar or small elk (big one at 400 lbs.) in thick cover. And yes, you can hunt with a scoped muzzleloader in NH.

IMO, putting a scope on a muzzleloader is like putting a rollbar on a tricycle.

The choice to scope or not scope is really up to how traditional you want to be.  As someone else mentioned, a little magnification never hurt anything.  The best sight system is a scope for MOST situations.  I personally would never put a scope on a traditional muzzle-loader but one of the new in-lines I would.  Long-range shooting would probably benefit from a scope moreso than short range shooting

Iince you are young, you probably have good eyes. I'd pass on the scope until you reach oldfartdom, and then put one on.
