The year of the white tail I guess.
Three more this weekend.
I used my buck tag on a large 3 point white tail and The boy took 2 more does.
That's 7 for the 4 of us. The boy still has a pocket full of asst doe tags and his buck tag I still have a white tail doe tag, the D-I-L is tagged out, the G-D is tagged out. We all are in for damage hunts, normally two deer each.
So far my mule deer doe is the only Muley.

White tail spotted does eat the best anyway.
We just checked it is $220 a deer regardless the size for processing. Shocked We do our own or give them to people that do there own cutting too.

The buck I shot was like a true eastern deer hunt.
It ran in to an acre sized stand of hawthorn bushes and aspen trees. We ran to the corner finger that was closest to the next stand of trees and sat in wait.
Was not 5 minutes and I saw a face looking out of the trees. the deer was completely covered behind trees only it's head and neck was visibly, if you saw it. 200 yards, I put the scope dead on the center of the neck/chest. Dang that 200 gr Barnes makes a wicked sound when it hits flesh. He tips backwards and and hit the ground where he was standing. When we gutted it out the bullet penetrated from chest to all most the tail it exited after going up through the spine 2 inches from the tail.Big smile

Local processing is $75-90.  We have lots of processors so it is competitive.  Depends on what you want.  The basic I get is  "all steaks, backstraps and loins whole grind the rest".  all vacuum bagged.

Sausage, pork fat, hot links, Kielbasa  extra.   No one seems to charge by the size of the deer.

My local butcher does about 1300-1600 a year

In town and towns around there is not a lot of competition, cant get people to cut. We can get a "Bulk" price because we get so many and we have known the owner for many years, but it is a very small discount.
It's just the basic cut, no special stuff, 10% fat in the burger, Vac packed, but it is VERY clean NO hair.
We have our own BIG grinder and Vac packer, Need to get a band saw.
Were we go is a big operation his cooler can hang near 100 elk and still close the door and it's full every evening all season long he says. He only cut wild stuff, can't get help, he rents out the cooler the rest of the year.

sadly I haven't got to find out if they raised the price this year. Hopefully I'll get a deer this month.

If I remember right it was $130 for deer or antelope and they cut elk by the pound. When It's all said and done its about the same price as beef. But I prefer game meat over beef.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.
