Hope so.
But that plant is a superfund site..totally polluted. Who in their right mind would buy into and then invest preliminary moneys "“We have invested $100 million into the site so far,” said Richard A. Smissen, owner, Expansion Industries. Richie Smissen, and his 'co-owner' Lucas Smissen seems to be creative/virtual executives!!! aka make it up as ou go. if this is true a wise invester would merely invest in a clean green field site in a state that would limit their taxes and give interest free loans. This smells to high primer heaven. Who would invest 100 million dollars into an industry that is near capacity, and could be put out of business with one stroke of liberal executive pen???? So many simpleton gun sites...so few with brains. Most just print anything they find 'foating around the net'; never think to check, just repeat internet garabage..

Good points Bear.
Smissen does seem to have a quick answer for everything. It's also a good point that no one in their right mind would spend that kind of money to build a business to supply a shortage that's almost over. I'm sure their will be another shortage but waiting for the next ten years isn't a real good return on investment. What do you think his angle is? I'm sure he will come out of it with a lot of money and his investers will lose. Wing master

I think you hit it. some shooters with more money than brains will invest. kiss that $$ good bye.
I assume they have got a 'blessing' from gov't on that worthless Lone Star Army Ammunition plant. Not only has that place had a number of fatal explosions over the years, it is a weapons disposal facility...they us to blow up old mines and bombs. So much hazard waste that it is a superfund site. So now these guy promote that they have the plant...and are putting millions into it. not believeable! But wing, I wish it was true (not enough to invest).

Interesting. I had no idea of the history of the plant.
Another thing you said is true. The part about people with more money than brains. I have been following a group buy of primers on another forum. I didn't get into it because the primers are supposed to be coming from Russia (low quality) and in this group buy they were still going to be $50-$60 per thousand. (over priced) It started about two years ago. People couldn't wait to jump in. The minimum order was something like 10,000,000 primers. It took a couple months but enough people got in to make the order. The primers were supposed to be delivered last June. In June a few people started asking when they were going to get the primers. The guy making the order had a couple excuses and everyone seemed passified for the time being. Now over a half year after everyone should have their primers and the guy still coming up with weak excuses, The natives are getting restless. What amazes me is the number of people that ordered $18,000 to $20,000 worth of primers. I assume they had visions of reselling them on Gunbroker or something like that to make a profit. Those guys are now coming out of the woodwork. They are threatening lawsuits and anything else they can come up with. The really surprising thing is a few people are still sympathetic with the guy and encouraging others to calm down and let him work it out, his hands are tied etc. It has been interesting to watch this play out. I'm sure it's going to get more intertaining in the next few weeks. I'm just glad I didn't send the guy any money. It seems like panic buying by some people and thoughts of turning a profit by others. Wing master

When it sounds too good to be true ....its usually isn't.
Surprised how many people will invest if you just hint that things are not legal...some guys buy anything if you tell them it is 'hot'.

Well.....my take on the matter is much like Bears. I err to caution with my money. Thats said, perhaps somebody made a tax break deal with fed backed loans to start a business on a superfund property...kind of like a rehab thing. Could happen and would explain the self investment if true. I also look at prices of components and whether it's almost over or not is debatable, but if they produce a quality product and price it competitively, it can only help with the market. Prices will never drop again to what they were......unless the others have to compete for your business. Right now, they don't have to compete.

I hope it's something like that.
I have a buddy that set his price limit at $105 for a thousand primers. He's been finding them on line at that price including shipping and hazmat. That's $55 more than my limit. I've been seeing them on store shelves once in a while lately. Wing master

When I se them I pay about $6 per 100 and only buy 200, leaving the rest for others. store clerks don't know how to deal with that when I say it.

I was notified by a friend that a store about 25 miles away had small pistol primers. Haven’t seen any in over a year. He texted a picture showing 10 boxes. I jumped in the car and raced over there. In that half hour it was down to 5. I bought the limit of 2. At checkout the girl ringing them up spilled one of the boxes. She was frantically trying to find them while complaining how small they were. I briefly considered saying I’d go exchange it for a different box but they were over 100 yards away and only 3 left. I looked down and saw one empty hole in the box. She said she was going to adjust the price and I said that would be fine. Walking out I looked at the receipt and it showed a .40 discount. Not what I had hoped but at $5.60 instead of $6 I probably would’ve rather had the primer? Got home and opened the box and found 3 more empty holes. Ugh.

Small rifle primers are like gold around here. I have seen magnums but not standard.
I have been using small rifle primers to load .45 ACP with no noticable difference. Wing master

Wing, During the last primer shortage I purchased 2K CCI small rifle magnum primers that worked well for me in my .204 Ruger's. I just tested them first with slightly reduced loads. They shot well. Last summer while I was PD shooting near Sheridan , Wy I bought a brick of CCI SR magnum primers from the local sport shop. I should have bought more. $65 at that time. While I'm think of it I will check my connection near Lewiston, Idaho where CCI is located and see if the LGS again has CCI primers.

i mistakedly loaded 200 rounds of 222 rem with small pistol primers.
Before I was going to pull them all, took them to range. groups in same hole as small rifle primers, with no sign of pressure or primer movement.
