I have a 6mm rem made from a Herders CJ9 action, a Mauser 98 type.
The back screw holes are drilled off-center and NOT on the top of the rounded action. I have taken it to several smiths and they all say they can not be welded up and redrilled. I have used different types of windage rings with good results but they eventually fail and break. I'm looking for a scope base, aluminum, that doesn't Have holes drilled in them. I want to drill the holes to match the ones in the action Off-centered. Yes, I will have to "Bed" the bases to compensate and come out on the top and flat to the action. Any place I can get them?

Can you get a Picatinny rail and cut a couple of one inch or so pieces out of it that doesn't have any holes drilled in it?
Just a thought If I'm understanding the question. Wing master

I think so.
I can get blank stock but there is no groves in it just flat metal. I'm not sure it the front and the back base are the same thickness on Mauser. On the Howa the back need to be thicker to come out level. We have a few one peace weaver bases I'll look at to cut too, maybe.

Is there enough meat to drill and tap for a base with a different set of holes or use a bridge mount and have it drilled to match? I had it done on a 22 bolt gun years ago.

BROWNELLS Said they did not have any blanks.
I took Wings advice but I had get a thin one the rear and front bases are different thicknesses. I cut out a hunk with the screw slot a little over an inch long. I put everything together minus the base screws. I got a laser bore site in 243 and put the scope in center adjustment. I used a bunch of release paint on the action, and puddy in holes in the action with a little bump to indicate where they needed to be. I used JB steel weld. Let it set all night and popped it off this morning. Set it up in the drill press and drilled the new holes. I put it back together and used the laser again. In my shop 24 feet long I put it dead center and an inch above the dot. Looks good. Now some paper work and I'll see what I did, I have great hope I fixed it.

D, Is it legal to shoot in your garage? Not mine, but I sometimes do barrel break-in in it. Usually though in the winter with all of the doors and windows closed and most people are in their houses. It's much quieter now with suppressors. Keep us updated on your success.
