Here I go again.
What's the definition of "Stupid", Banging your head on a rock till you get what you want???
Anyway As per norm snow all this week. This year there is not 10 feet of snow in the mountains only just enough to make it imposable to get in with a 4wheeler and not enough to run your snowmobiles.Confused
But we are going to try.
Last year there was almost NO people out because of TO MUCH SNOW. BUT the bears were not as happy to come out where we could make it to them.
This year way less snow so every bear hunter will be out mucking in the mud and leftover drifts.
What to do? Were to go?
AND yes I'll be haven the 8 strapped to my back.

guess I'd get to the most remote hollow/canyon with a southern exposure where some vegatation might be growing from that warm period.

Good luck,  take it slow that Big 8 is heavy for us oulde timers.

And remember the sardine sandwiches.

No spring bear hunting legal here; one seen in the city of Pittsburgh last week roaming the hills.

" take it slow that Big 8 is heavy for us oulde timers."

Funny thing It's the lightest hunting gun I have.
Only the TC predator 22/250 is lighter. At 5 1/2 pounds.
The 8 is around 7 pounds ( under 8)loaded with the scope and Claw strap.Clap
 The 6 is 12

7 pounds ready to go isn't bad at all....almost an ultra light.

My Kimber 84M weight 5# 6 oz.

Scope and mounts add 1# 2 oz
Sling and 3 rround in mag  6 oz.

total  6# 14 oz  and that is for my ultra weight...and because of that it is my go to rifle as my legs get shorter and weaker!Cry

Good luck D.

It might be tough conditions, but if you don't go you won't get one for sure.
