The brake of dawn found us pushing off the shore.
No idea what we would find so we brought every thing. Rifles, shotguns, spinning poles, casting poles Jigs, minnows, worms, and the FoxPro.
Actually the bulk of it stays in the boat.
29* light ( under ten mile wind).

Opps gota run I'll be back to finish...Embarrassed

We put 30 some miles on the boat, seams to be charging ok now.
We saw GOBS of Golden eagles and some Bald eagles, there always cool.
We where Fish'callen. Calling for Racoon and fishing.
VERY soon the big spawner walleye will be up here. The pike fallow closely. The Catfish should already be here. Drum, and red tail suckers are already here.
The fish we got all took white jugs, white tails, and a dead minnow.
YUP the carp and suckers did too. Drum are predator's it took the set up too.
No other boats on the river. We stopped at every spot with trees and brush came down to the river and called for Raccoons. We saw lots of 'coon tracks but no little bandits would show there face.
If they would have I would have tried to dust them with the Stoeger and 1 3/8 oz of #5's. We had the 243 and 22/250 set ready to go if Whiley coyote tried to get a peek at a raccoon fight.
We did not see either.
LET me tell you the two Huge speakers on the FoxPro will fill the river corridor with songs of death, Dang.
We had to start out on very low volume, then we would work up, just in case there was something in  Chouteau county might be interested.
We have a special draw area( 40 tags are given out) we put in for spring turkey, which is the north side of the river, so a little recon was going on too, no turkeys seen.
There is some very technical water in that stretch so the boy had to read the river on the fly. As usual he read it perfectly. The river drops 180 feet in a 20 mile section, it's defiantly not "white water", but it is a horrible stretch to puncture your boat or get knocked out of your boat. Not that there is a GOOD place too.
We went up river to almost Morony dam the last of five on the Great Falls...
Lewiey and Clarky would have loved a few of mud boats when they came up through here. Gas may have been an issue.LOL

Thanks for the report.

The lack of 'otes, even answering your foxpro, confirms  they are down/gone!

Do you eat the fresh water drum??????

I like eating so I ask!

called 'drum' because of the drumming noise they make.  similar to grunts, that make a grunting sound.  I eat saaltwater Drum...they call it Red Fish.  Blackened Red fish is a hot item with food gormets!

Even if you didn't see any coons or coyotes you still caught some really nice fish. I'm sure it was a great day.

SKY
If the trout where as big as the "Rough" fish I'd try to catch trout...
We where on Kocanusa lake a number of years ago, on a trip My wife won.
We where catching bull trout over 12 pounds and, Kamloops Rainbow bigger that that.
The outfitter was going nuts when we would have them thrown back in.
They finally wore us down, and we kept the, one each we could, bull trout, and we kept two Huge rainbow. They where having a fish fry at the end of our trip.
You get a 12/15 pound trout on 300 feet of line and there "FUN".Clap
