this will be my last day hunting deer with a rifle, the season closes tomorrow and it will rain all tomorrow.
So The 260 rem will be cleaned and bask on the rack tonight. No deer for me so far. yesterday was great high 20 oF and bright clouds, with 2 mph winds. Today is suppose to be the same. will still hunt the big woods. Got my sardine lunch packed. But I can't complain got 28 days hunting with my rifle. Got 2 weeks off deer hunting then back to flintlock season and some archery hunting. So far a very good season.

It is a good thing your such a fine specimen of a manly man. 28 days of hunting would kill most. I wish you well and good luck. Keep an eye out for a turdy pointer...

28 days is a good season.
Maybe no deer but I'm sure you saw some and the expierence is as good as it was when you were a teenager. Good luck on your last day of rifle season. Wing master

Don't know how Bear made out today but I managed to get a shot off yesterday. Was a clear miss! 80-90 yards laying down with a snow bank rest. Not even fur. Just turned and walked away. WTH! Insult to injury, stepped over the bank onto the 60* slope and slip down on my back across the rocks and at some point over the rifle, stopped by a tree with a snow wedgey. He was one of 3 running together with a doe and all three had shootable racks but he was the only mature one in the bunch. Caught a glimpse of two of them running low below the north west corner, no follow up shot. Headed to the house and grabbed some grub. Brother called and asked what was up and then informed me he just saw two cut through the field below and ran up through my yard. Headed back out but this time I cut up the SW face around to the top and back of the hill before cutting back west over the top/north west side Worked my way through the witch hazel and deadfalls down the top couple benches and as soon as I stepped onto the edge of the face that big one stood up in the chop and pranced through quartering away into the brush.....!@#$%^&*. Heading out in the morning for my last attempt. Grabbed the 7 for today and tomorrow. See how it goes.

Got in late last night. Just got up after 11 hour 'nap'.
Got zero. walked abour 6 miles in an area of public forests that I'd not hunter in 35 years. enjoyed myself. Saw 5 nice deer but they were over on private posted land....we have all had that experience before. Must be the end of season as I'm out of my lunch time sardines. will stock up for the late flintlock season. 6.5-08 is in bed now.
