No weapons, concealed or otherwise, are allowed in school buildings. Montana recognizes concealed carry permits issued by most but not all other states. Concealed carry without a permit is generally allowed outside city, town, or logging camp limits. Under Montana law a permit is necessary only when the weapon is " wholly or partially covered by the clothing or wearing apparel ",[10] therefore it is legal to carry and/or keep a firearm inside a vehicle without a permit (as long as it is not concealed on the person)
Kinda wish I hear that from a sheriff rather then Wikipedia

I did not see anything about no permit needed out side city limits.
When I'm out hunting sometimes I like to carry my 22 for sudden need to shoot an aggressive gopher or something.

If it is not concealed, no problem. these things are for concealed carry on you body, (inside your coat).
In a holster on your hip ...visible is just open carry.

It is illegal to carry or bear concealed upon the individual's person a pistol ( revolver, auto etc...or other deadly weapon),
Concealled weapons is a crime, so a permint is needed to avoid the crime. open carry is legal. See sec. of the code 45-8-316 45-8-316. Carrying concealed weapons. (1) A person who carries or bears concealed upon the individual's person a dirk, dagger, pistol, revolver, slingshot, sword cane, billy, knuckles made of any metal or hard substance, knife having a blade 4 inches long or longer, razor, not including a safety razor, or other deadly weapon shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $500 or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period not exceeding 6 months, or both. (2) A person who has previously been convicted of an offense, committed on a different occasion than the offense under this section, in this state or any other jurisdiction for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment in excess of 1 year could have been imposed and who carries or bears concealed upon the individual's person any of the weapons described in subsection (1) shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $1,000 or be imprisoned in the state prison for a period not exceeding 5 years, or both. The part from Wiki is wrong. "Concealed carry without a permit is generally allowed outside city, town, or logging camp limits." Remember Wiki is just internet volunteer info...often wrong always liberal. It is possible that the person listing it was looking at something decades old. the laws I cited are 100 years old, so he would have been going back a long time, especially when he said "logging camps". Maaybe he was trying to express open carry? Hope it helps, legal fees are payable in vodka!

The law in Wyoming makes no sense to me. I will contact Wyoming gun owners association and see if they will get one of the good guys to introduce a bill to get it changed.
In Wyoming no permit is necessary to carry a concealed firearm as long as you are a resident. In my opinion that's kinda stupid because this puts a target on the back of non-residents. Wing master
