Big case = big powder charge.  You got to fill that space up.

7mm R mag charges about 64 grains........& Weatherby charge is about 74 grains!    And that extra powder means more kick!

Real men like big cartridges.    Size matters.

My 8 uses an expanded 375 H&H case, I think we're running like 86 gr RL 26. A 200 Gr Barnes TSX bullet.
My boy has a 375 H&H, no Idea what he uses.
 A buddy has a 375 Ruger, I'ts a bigger case I think.
 D-I-L has a 338/378 an even bigger case .

Remember: Four boxes keep us free ,the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, AND the cartridge box

375 Ruger is shorter to fit standard action and no taper, roughly 200FPS slower, but that's dependent on barrel and rifle/load combo. Weatherby used to just take the taper out of the H&H case and relabeled it the 375 Weatherby, balisticaly the same. 378 is a tad longer, no taper, and thicker walled and I also believe the projectiles are seated a tiny bit farther forward. Rim is thicker and a shade larger in diameter, presumably to support the cartridge better. I know all I need is a reamer and a new bolt face and I can shoot .378....but WHY!?! Until they manage the wooly mammoth strand or feed musk ox testosterone and steroids, I think I'm fairly safe with what I got!

Except for elephant and rhino (no longer legal to hunt), the 375 Holland & Holland is as big as anyone needs.  shoots accurately and while it does kick, it is manageable.

To me all the newer 375s just add noise and recoil with little advantage....keep it  375 H&H.
