OK here's the thing...
Sometimes we get wrapped up in the moment and don't think of our own safety. I don't mean gun safety or falling in a hole, hypothermia, or even sitting on a snake. This is about AFTER the shot. I was out with a buddy yesterday windy as heck, it was a two hour drive to get to our area we wanted to hunt. We get there and could only get in a very few sets till the wind would blow the caller across the prairie. Dang. I knew of a Pdog town close by and wanted to salvage the trip, so P dogs here we come. We get there and here is two trucks parked in the "Good" spot, DANG again. It's a fairly big town, we decided to go out and look where they are. Not wanting to walk in on them we crept up and looked over the hill stealthy, With out Binoculars only. There was a group of them, we would not hunt here. BUT what we saw was them in the midst of a ground blizzard of blowing dust. No big deal? I beg to differ. Not only where that picking up the dead P dogs and counting them they had no gloves on. BAD!!! AND. the town is over a mile long and the wind was blowing the P dog town dirt, crap, plague , flees and all right in to there faces. NUTS. We got to talking on the trip back about the way people handle very potentially dangers animal carcasses. You have all seen pics of people with coyotes over there shoulders and there back side covered in coyote goo and blood. Or stroking there fur with bare hands, yuk. We never touch a gopher, P dog with anything other then a stick. Never stand in a cloud of P dog town dust, crawl around on there mounds. Coyotes take a lot of caution too. Never get there blood on you , we use dedicated gloves or vinyl ones to handle them, coveralls to skin them and store them in keepers or drag bags till they get frozen. Be careful out there guys. Thanks for the reminder D. It's easy to get caught up in the moment and not think about this stuff.
