I hate having to think on a day off...
Anyway.
When I was out testing 8mmRM loads we were getting
Vertical stringing I think.
54 shots and not one triangle group.
All up and down, most in a fairly straight line.
And I felt I needed to move the scope closer to my face.
When we mounted it I was afraid the scope would scope me, so we mounted it as far forward as we could, not needed, or comfortable to shoot. I moved it now that I decided to pull the stock off and do the beading and pillar work.
I have aluminum pillars and got the longer action screws from Brownells.
I have epoxy resin and carbon fiber mat From a prop repair project I'll use for the bedding. I did my 6mmRM and used Acraglass and there barrel release. Straight forward for a DIY project.
I made my own pillars on that one, glad I ordered for this one easier.
I see all the You tubes use boot wax for a release agent I will too.
I'm going to steel some of the GD's play dough to block off where I DON'T want any glass and a lot of masking tape. Glad I got a dermal tool for this one should be better to work with.
I'll use two or three raps of tape as a spacer on the barrel they sell some that is made to build up exact amounts but as long as it does not touch It works. That's how I did the 6 too. I hope to start this weekend.Confused

Remember I still have that Choate Sniper stock sitting in the corner.  worked great on my 416 mag.  Got me sub MOA.  It free floats the barrel and mounts the cylinder M700 action in two Vee blocks of AL.

I have found bedding works in wood stocks; and pillars fix poor or soft wood at stock screws.  barrel bedding can change barrel harmonics and dampen, improving accuracy.

I use Johnson paste wax for release agent.
