Now, I'm not talking about shooting a stone castle walls. But the larger castle prroperties have thousands of acres with pheasants everywhere. So to pay the taxes, they have driven pheasants and partridge shoots.
Notice they even have 'Rules' and ediquette(sp). First Rule don't arrive late! Going to do one for christmas with son. Might need some pics as to the gentile hunt...not like our gopher shoots.

Refreshments & LuncheonThe breakfast, drinks breaks and lunch are a very important social part of any shoot day and I feel that in order to fully appreciate and enjoy the company of the other guns and guests, it is important to join them and not spend too much time on your mobile phone or by rushing off at the end of the shooting, unless there is a valid reason to do so. Ripley Castle On all days we start at 8.30 a.m. with breakfast in the Dining Room at Ripley Castle. However due the annual Christmas Fair in Ripley Castle during the last two weeks of November we take breakfast in our Shoot Cabin. Please check your confirmation for details. On all days we take lunch at 12.30 p.m. and afternoon tea at 4.00 p.m. in our Shoot Cabin. roughin it! not |

Odd coinkydink! Just talkin about that today. Birr castle during the Birr county fair has fowling and fox for hunts on grounds. Birds must be flushed and by sporting terms, eloquence must be taken seriously. Before a shot can be fired you need to praise the bird, "What a lively flight it has", or, "Wonderous plumage on this one"....things like that. Fox hunts are an affair. Need to research these things thoroughly if you want to indulge. I recommend attending the fairs. Not at all like the US. Falconry and owl exhibitions are the norm as well as sporting booths from Purdy, H&H, etc. Nice that they just let you open the cases and take them all out back for clays if you desire. Perish the thought.
On the list for the next trip. |
