I'm starting to load for waterfowl season.
Depending on how the big game season is working out for us  the 3 of us go through anywhere from 400 to 600 shot shells.
all 12 gauge and mostly 3" I have a 3 1/2 but I have not had as good performance out of my hand loads.
I shoot mostly 3".
For most pass shooting or on the river over decoys we use duplex #2xB steel.

CAUTION: This post discusses loads or load data that may or may not be appropriate for your gun or for the cartridge(s) and components mentioned. Due to typos, variations in guns and components, and the abilities and judgement of users of this data, neither the writer, nor the staff of BSB.com assume any liability for damage or injury resulting from using this information. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE DESCRIBED LOADS without first working them up from a published safe starting level charge while watching for pressure signs. If you don't know how to do that please don't try, for your own safety and the safety of others.

I like to use new hulls for steel and re use them as 2 3/4 lead.
I start with 3" blue pre primed Rio hulls, "TPS" 3" hulls from BPI. Nickle plated steel shot and an over shot card, steel powder.
37 gr steel, 200 gr #2 shot in the wad first, then 290 gr #B , and over shot card a 5 point crimp .
I put it through a taper die and a drop of crimp sealer . That's a 1 1/8 oz. load and runs close to 1500 fps.
We push it through a .669 extended ported choke.
Wonderful pattern but a large recoil.

Interesting d.....you load on a MEC for steel shot machine? Lots of lever pulling. Wondering if you or the site put in the caution in red in your post. I see it references both the writer and the staff of BSB whomever that may be.
I just use 3" factory steel shot shells for my little bit of waterfowl hunting.

I reload 2-3/4",
But buy 3" steel for ducks.
Use the smallest shot size that
WILL go all way thru'em.
Don't want to find steel shot in my ducks or geese!
