As I said in another post with the new pods the front plows in to the water, harder you push the deeper it goes. I have elevators on it but there not enough to do the job.
I was thinking I would move every thing to the back to shift the attitude . LOT A WORK, different kind of steering, different gas peddle set up and GOBS of wiring, switches , and gauges. New thought. Just move the motor/drive/cage back to the end of the boat. A simple way to do it I hope, lengthen the steering shaft and lengthen the gas line and throttle cable. I can get 8 inches and shift 400 pound back. Just cut the mount Frame lift it with a come along and move it back weld it back in to place. As I'm at it I'll tip the whole thing up ward a few inches. Maybe...

And at the same time you would get more usable space inside for 'stuff'.

Just a couple thoughts.
If you move engine back, make the motor "platform" adjustable for tilt and for & aft. This would allow you to tune it, by removing a few bolts. Steering could have slip joint, to allow the couple inches of adjustment. I know you want the pontoon boat, but if you filled in gap, between them, you would gain 30% lift, while underway, with very little weight gain. If you didn't want to extend full length, bridging bow section and first 1/3 of bottom, would provide quite a bit of lift to bow. |

mmmm....any way to add weight to the pods as counter balance? Like maybe fill with 50-50 antifreeze & water? (all weather solution) Water is approximately 8lbs/gallon as a reference to figure out weight added by volume of the pods. Of course this most likely won't be nearly the same amount of wt. of the motor/drivecage I'd guess.

I was looking at pics, of your pods and had idea.
Since you have to make arms, supporting end of pods, shorter, to move motor platform back. If you could raise backend of pod, it would allow bow to raise some. Pods are acting like large trim tabs and shifting too much weight forward. If you leave front of pod, attached and removed one end of back brace, alum at transom, should have enough flex,(1/4" to 3/8") to gain inch or two of angle, that would lighten up bow, while underway. |
