Ok it sounds dumb, but.
I'm adding foam flotation to the waterbug.
2- 30"x31"x26" one in each cat along side the motor in back.
26"x 5''x 13 feet. and the two aluminum pods added in back .
There roughly 6"x20"x15". That's 72,100 Cubic inches. 41.72 cubic feet. That would displace 41.72 cf or water which is 2603 pounds.
I want to see if that will hold it up.
If I backed it in on the trailer and sunk the boat then un hooked the tie downs but keep the trailer under it with a bow rope and maybe
on the sides too to keep it from rolling.
Then what? If it floats or sinks to the trailer, do you think the trailer would hold the weight when I take it out? There is no extra weight on the trailer in the water , right?
I'd keep the motor mostly out of the water then pump it out.
To crazy ?

You want to pull boat out of water, while it's on trailer and full of water?

OR

Do you want to use trailer, as ballast, to keep boat up right in water and then, drain/pump the water from boat, as you slowly remove it out of water with trailer?

Years ago, when I used to drag boats and scuba dive. We used to raise the sunken boats and motors. Often the hulls were in pieces, from crashes, but sometimes, they got swamped and went down whole. If you got it to surface and level, you could pull it out of water on trailer, if you worked real slow and kept water level inside hull, equal to outside. Hulls aren't made for interior load pushing out, they're built to hold pressure from outside.

The trailer holding load wasn't the issue, collapsing/expanding the sides of hull was. Sunken boat on trailer, will always "weigh" less, while it's under water, the trick is to keep water level, equal on inside and outside of hull, draining boat completely, as it's removed from water.

I think I would just weigh the boat (minus the trailer weight.

If that is less than the 2600#, it will stop it from sinking.

If you want to sink, what robert said:
-leave the plugs out of the hull
- pull the boat out about 1 foot forward at a time up on land, that will give only a few inches of extra water in the boat (about 3-4", which will slowly drain out to the level of the lake.
-then pull one foot forward again, slowly and wait for the next 3" of water to drain out.
-keep repeating the 1' intervals until it is completely drained.

AS said your boat, nor any boat is made to take forces inside pushing out.

I've done this with 25 foot boats a number of times that have sunk at their mooring.  In and open boat, you can kelp by bailing buckets out as you wait for the 3" of water to drop.

Never thought of the "outward " stress.
With two cats I was afraid more of it bending in the center of the boat. Good thoughts . I knew I'd have to pull it out slow.
As a guy starts up the ramp I'm hoping most the water will pour over the back.

do you have plugs????

by the time it pours over the transom (back) you can expect damage to the sides.   too much pressure inside pushing outward, will bucket you boat.

If you do not have plugs at the back bottom of your boat, I'd STRONGLy suggest you add some.  Even a heavy rain or a leaking shed roof can buckel your boat sides.   get a plug for each pontoon; will let you leave rain out coming home.

I always leave the plugs out of boat until launching.

Just came in from bailing out my neighbors boat, cover cracked and it filled with water (4 days of heavy rain here) ...pulled the plug to empty.  His is a heavy fiberglass so sides were not damaged.....but my fingers are all wrinkled from water saturation!

Shit happens, he is in Cleveland and doesn't know...ignorance is bliss.  He will owe me a Martini with two olives.
