this topic is beat up on every site.  seems everone has a miracle cleaner that they love, but the same stuff doesn't work for others??????

BUT, my real question is this:
Barrels are long and the bore gets dirty and it needs to be cleaned.  I probably over clean my rifles, but everyone is shined to factory unfired condition every time I shoot.  Lots of black carbon bound to the rifling.  what I wonder is is the carbon build up uniform from chamber to muzzle???   OR is there more carbon near rthe muzzle????

I've asked a few folks on the net that claim they have bore scopes what is the answer.  But I never have gotten an answer.

Even with bore cam, it's hard to tell. What I can say, carbon buildup nearest chamber, is last to get removed. Whether this is due to heavier deposit, or because it's harder to remove, due to pressure and heat applied is heaviest, nearest the chamber. I know if you let carbon ring to form, near throat, it's real hard to remove.

I use a back n forth scribbing action with a coarse cotton  patch soaked in solvent.  I can feel some of the crud areas, I think.

It is most difficult to scrub the muzzle as a little over ride and the patch exits.

I only go from breech to muzzle, with cotton patches, unless I'm using JB on mop, for lapping or removing carbon ring. I wet the bore with #9, while it's still warm and when I have more time, run Butch's or Sweet's through, followed by #9 on patch, then dry patch, before and after oil. Depending on how long I'm storing it and action type, I'll use either rem-oil or mobile one syn. oil.

#9 and oil mix is my standard.
