It is interesting that at least one OEM is coating the inside of their case mouths to get better bullet insertion without any bullet maring.
this makes sense. We usually just chamber the caase mouth. Coating might make better methode. |

A long time ago when I loaded a lot, paraffin, (aka gulf wax), was used. Some fellas argued build up, extra step, unneeded, etc. I personally never saw any difference in accuracy or case wear one way or the other. I can't see where it could hurt it though. The lands and grooves tear the hell out of the projectiles and fowled rifling is more a concern then any microgrooves from the loading process. That said, some are finicky, and if lubing them makes them more accurate and consistent in that particular weapon, great to know it's a solution.

I either brush, inside of necks, with worn bronze bore brush or with OOO steel wool wrapped brush, after chamfering them, with VLD inside chamfering tool. I also leave the lube residue on both outside of case and inside of neck. I either use imperial wax or Dillon lanolin lube, neither effects powder.
I'm not sure how much it helps, but when you're after that last tenth, it all adds up. I know bore fouls less, when your bullets aren't scuffed up, before they get to lands. |
