need a light load data for a 223 equal to 22 Long rifle.

For a variety of reasons, I need a 222/ 223 load that duplicate a 22 Long rifle  standard velocity.  I’m thinking Trail Boss, but any powder is fine.

I’m shooting a bolt action (closed breach) so operation in an AR is not a consideration.  I’m thinking GOPHERS, and sub sonic would be good also.

Any and all thought appreciated.

I'm not sure about .223, but deaddog has done quite a bit with Unique in rifle loads.

I do know that after the powder charge he uses a Dacron filler to keep the powder close to the primer. He also stresses to not pack the Dacron into the case. just put some in.

I'm sure Trail Boss would work too.

I gotta ask why? Are you looking to fire form brass and double duty? Suppress? I've only once heard of someone doing it before and I can't remember the why's or how too involved. The only part of that conversation I remember was that the guys was trying to fire form and the primer alone sometimes did not have enough Oomph to get the projectile out of his barrel and the small charge was erratic due to uneven powder burn from so much excess room. Always wondered how it worked out and the end product. I was under the impression that the lack of heat may have sized the case a bit but did not harden the mouth. Got my curiosity going.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

I have not tried it on a 223 but I do subsonic loads in my 45-70 with trail boss and it works very well. You don't even need hearing protection with it.

Double duty.  Gophers and then HP loads for 'otes.

I think Trail boss will work OK.  Not sure about accuracy??????

looking for a bullet now.  thinking 36 grain Hornet jacketed bullet; but would prefer cast.
