I like flannel shirts and wear them almost yearround.
For decades I've bought some good name brands, and the shirts lasted a long time. some of mine are now dying. All the new oness I've looked at are thin material, hardly even flannel. In the old days I could buy a moleskin shirt and it was thick, soft, and lastedd forever. What is a good brand?? Looked at Duluth; there shirts are made in china or Vet nam...reviews are very thin material.

How about Pendleton or woolrich. My wife makes all my shirts and are made with top line flannel or wool.

I used to get heavyweight flannel shirts from Cabela's. I don't think what they carry now is as heavy. I don't like the colors, but they don't sell them in my size anyway. It's 8-9oz fabric, about as heavy as they make nowadays.
I've actually found made in USA flannel shirts, at JCP, they're lighter weight, foundry brand, but they're only in big and tall sizes. Edited by RobertMT - 07 March 2018 at 10:56 |

for years I bought Pendleton or woolrich flannel and wool shirts, great. and I still have some 30+ years old (might have leather patches on the sleeves. Today these are just China bought and branded by pen and wool.
Best shirts I ever owned were made in Rochester NY by Melden company. they made them for Dickies, woolrich, Eddie Bauer, etc. But Melden (100 people) has been closed for 25 years. when all clothing went overseas. Might try Filson...but I want to inspec and feel the material befor buying.

Seriously Bear? You live that close to Woolrich and your not planning the spring sale out yet?
http://www.woolrich.com/woolrich/ Every spring they have a huge fall and winter clearance sale.....and showcase the new fishing gear. |

I have a couple Carhartt flannel shirts. They aren't as heavy as you are probably looking for but they are decent shirts. I'm thinking something like 8 oz.
Since clothing started being manufactured overseas the quality really went down. Wing master

The Duluth long tailed Henleys are nice, though made in either Taiwan or Vietnam. Most of the Woolrich stuff is made in Mexico.
