It sounds like you have a winner JSG. First factory ammo you tried and quarter inch groups.

I have improved accuracy with reloads with every rifle I have. It might be interesting to see how it works out. Keep us posted.

1 1/4", but for the first four and cheap ammo, can't complain too much. Gonna blow a couple hundred through it and then work up some loads. Would be nice to get it down to quarter inch groups. It's the closest I've seen to Weatherby accuracy straight out of a box with not even a patch run through it though. Time and rounds through always tell the tale in the end and this one may have some potential.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

I'd stay away from the Savage axis like I would my X wife.

Axis are very ugly, even uglier than a Savage, but like a ugly women, they try harder and you get used to their looks.

There are so many used ones here for sale. Makes me wonder why ? Old Savage's I like ,99's ,110's . Its like Remington 7600's ,there have been millions sold ,but you never see them on the used racks. Wink

760 and 7600 are standard  in Pennsylvania.  ever gun shop has 2-3 minimun.  usually in 270 or 30-06.  four guys in our hunting group use/love thrm.  If you Get to PA you will fine what ever you want, most look pretty new.
