Sandwiches are whatever the eater wants to make them!

Unlike Ron I don't spend time in preparation.

I just got back from turkey hunting (nothing of a blue
bird day).

So hungry, no bkft or lunch, I made one of my favorite
sandwiches.

Braunschweiger with onion and LOTS of horseradish!

Any strange free form sandwiches that you like. that
caan be made in about 1 minute?

Peanut butter with lettuce and Velveeta cheese comes to mind.
On a bun or dinner roll.
Yum.

Your sandwich sounds great, Bear - I'd happily share a couple of those with you!

My "free form" sandwiches are pretty unsophisticated - usually just a fold-over with whatever meat and cheese I have around...or sometimes, peanut butter and whatever jelly (or honey) is on hand.

If I have a little time, and some heat of some kind, I'll grill a couple of slices of bologna, then make it part of a grilled cheese sandwich.

In all of these cases, I'm just as likely to substitute a tortilla for bread, if that's what I have around.

When mid-night cravings attack, I'll throw some cheese on a tortilla, throw that under the broiler, and then add whatever meat I have around - or none, if there is none.

My favorite is either tuna, turkey, ham, or chicken salad, spiked with jalapeno relish. If I have left over steak or roast, a good dose of horseradish is mandatory. After having soggy sandwiches for years, I learned to take sandwich mix in small jar and spread on bread last minute, before eating. At work, they have toaster oven, most any sandwich is better toasted.

my "field" sandwich is Raisin bread and Hard Salami
without any other "stuff"....no butter, mayonnaise
however if an exception was made it would be a dab of
mustard.

Hard salami sandwich cost me dearly. That use to be my
hunting lunch, until....

Rowed a mile out into a lake in late November (with 3
dozen deks and some salami lunch). set the decoys..had
one bite..and broke half a tooth of on a
peppercorn...pain/blood.

no more salami sandwiches when hunting or fishing.

bear not a good experience BUT I don't believe there are
any peppercorn in current Hard Salami...at least none I
have encountered in many years of that stuff. Tho for
sure it is NOT good for a person, certainly not a
"health food".

I don't worry too much about fat. Most of my arteries
have been replaced or reamed open.

Fry bread's way better for you, to be the best, it has to be fried in lard though.

Yummy. Can we add salt to the lard while frying?

That'd be bacon grease, everything's better with bacon.

My Grandma, used to use lard, made from bear fat, for frying donuts, best donuts ever. It's funny, you want all the fat off, before cooking bear, but once fat's rendered, lard has no off taste and a high smoke point.
