I figured I would at least set the bug motor on the cat hulls. My buddy is ill and we could not get started actually mounting it.

Looking good D.
How are you going to run the exhaust? Can you reverse the manifolds? Wing master |

Straight out exhaust...got to have that Beetle winding up
wyndeeee!!! Prop is going to make some noise and will'sweep' the exhaust back. going to need a BIG wire cage in at least the front and sides of the prop. Is that the snow machine output above the transom??? |

D,
just thoughts from a frustrated shadetree mechanic. The output shaft looks 'thin'. once that prop, and all it's weight (momentum) gets moving, a quick engine slowdown/stop may shear the output shaft, with the stored energy in the heavy prop. Something to think about. maybe a slip clutch to limit max torque to twice the snowmachine value??? you also have a heavy outboard load, cantilevered out of the transmission. that bearing probably wasn't made for any suspended mass? the clutch is free turning under 1700 rpm, the prop is 8 pounds .
I have a carrier bearing right behind the shaft you cant see. the prop will only JUST be almost flush with the back of the boat hulls . only thing "Hinging" over will be the rudder plates and ailerons Edited by d4570 |

I am thinking the exhaust would be better going out the
back of the boat. Normal VW exhaust exits out the rear of the car. Whitch would be to the front of your boat. Wing master |

D;
Put a set of chrome skypipes on it for exhaust. Contact Progressive for insurance & offer the rig to them for advertising using Flo. The Waterbug could maybe have it's 15 minutes of fame! 900F |

I would like to see the WaterBug in person.
I think a club soda would be a small price to pay. Wing master |
