Forever, Pennsylvania has outlawed Air rifles and
pistols for hunting. and many cities and villages have
even outlawed their target use/discharge.

Now in the 21 century, this has changed. Beginning this
year 'some' hunting with air rifles will be legal!
Final rules are still being 'discovered' by the PA Game
Commision. Since state laws override local laws, you
will probably be legal to hunt/shoot in the cities with
the normal restrictions (safety zones). So
Grackles/starlings and collared doves beware.

I see some air rifles powerful enough to hunt deer with?

My son just made a heck of a shot on a cottontail a few days ago at just
over 50 yards with a .177 suppressed Gamo.

The new big bores are about the same as a .38 Special.

Endeavor to persevere.

I have been shooting Eurasian (collard) doves in my back
yard for several years. I use a Gammo Whisper. While it's
nowhere even close to whisper quiet it will knock a
Eurasion dove out of a tree at 40-50 yards.

I have seen a bunch of grey squirrels in my yard this
winter. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it will work
pretty good on them too. I plan on finding out pretty
soon.
