I had a friend from out of state ask me this question. Since I do not know the answer with 100% certainty, I wanted to post it here:

Quote Can a person without a concealed weapon permit conceal/carry in Montana?

Any solid advice and answers would be most appreciated.

Ron

Taz;

I'm not sure of the correct answer either, and to get that
I'd check with your local sheriff. But, I'm pretty sure
that to carry concealed in an incorporated town, he has to
have the permit. Open carry is legal, I think, outside of
towns. Not sure about out-of-state concealed outside urban
areas.

According to this, I think 900F is right. If that person
is outside an incorporated town they are allright.

I think.

MT recognizes most other states ccws, so he should be ok. If he doesn't have permit, outside of town is generally ok, but not on person inside vehicle. You can have it concealed off person, except in prohibited places, without permit, even in cities. Off person includes vehicle, purse, briefcase or such.
