The little granddaughter and I slipped out for a little rabbit hunting. The wind finally gave us a bit of a brake. We covered a lot of ground ,for a 6 year old anyway. Snow was mostly gone just some patches of ice.
We did not find a cottontail she could get a shot at but SHE saw a few ,and we did manage to burn off 60 or 70 22 shells , part of my gopher stash. she loves to blast rocks and ice, in lieu of hoping ,long eared targets...
About the time we got to the back side of the "lands" we where hunting , some dink drove threw the gate and set up a target and started blasting. It was not directly at us but close enough to make it un selling.

On our way out after eating our lunch at the truck I called the DNRC office and gave them his license plate number. Can't drive on "state trust land," walk in only.
I also think he broke the gate post to get in . we did not stick around to see how that turned out.
GOOD TIMES !!!!D

D4570: Great photos of the tiny Hunter!
I wish you had enjoyed the day completely (without the
slob shooter incident) - thanks for reporting him to the
authorities.
A few weeks ago here just outside Dillon, Montana a slob
Hunter(s) threw out, alongside the Blacktail Road,
exactly 10 white Jack Rabbits and 1 Hungarian Partridge.
All had been shot and left in a pile along this pretty
busy county road just 100 yards from the city limits!
I stopped and inspected the sad pile of intentionally
disposed of creatures and just shook my head.
What on earth would cause someone to go Rabbit Hunting
and harvest 10 of them and one Hungarian Partridge
(season was closed at this time!) load them into a
vehicle drive them back to town and dump them where a
couple hundred people a day would pass by and see them.
I am not sure what the authorities did to investigate and
for sure without an eyewitness to the "dumping" there
probably was nothing they could do.
I am so tired of slob Hunters and slob shooters (sign
shooters and the like!).
Thank you again for reporting the incident.
And thanks for posting the wonderful pictures.
Hold into the wind

The hun , they could a wanten waist charge.
The Jacks would be littering . Littering if you hold a MT hunting/fishing license is cause to loose your privileges for years.
The same as if you throw a bunch of carp or suckers on the bank , no game laws broken 'sept your littering .
