OOPS !Crap !
Man I put some BAD gouges in the bottom of the Hewes, in what looks like a sensitive area. It looks like I have been doing it for several loadings. I knew that I had 3 bad roller bunk rollers but when the boat is on the trailer it looks like no problem. It has to be when I load her up and the trailer is at a steep angle to the boat. I ordered some new wheels but don't know what to do for the boat bottom... My concern is being made out of stiff aluminum that if I do hit a rock or log it may crack the hull. Not good. Any ideas ?

I suspect that the heavy gage aluminum in the Hewes may also be tempered... it never appeared to be a soft alloy. A call to Hewes customer service will get you a fix.

is your boat a Hewes or a HewesCraft boat?

Hewes is owned by Maverick boats.

I've had some plate aluminum wielded on my flat bottom swamp boat. looks a little rough from the outside (I've ground it feather-edged but is strong and solid!

I think the bottom will be OK...
I took the bunks off and replaced the rollers that are bad or missing. I moved the "better" rollers to the center where the most ware seamed to be. I also moved them an inch forward ,looked like the boat has shifted a little closer to the truck, can't help but help. I notices one of the front roller array had slipped to the center of the trailer 4" I moved them back to there normal spot. how come on a boat trailer every thing is put on with clamps and "U" bolts ?? I hope this is the FIX.
My easy loader trailer has always been a big pile of $hit. You would think on a 50K boat they would put a descent trailer under it. I had one of the front bolts ware intwo and drop the boat on to the spare tire as I was going down a gravel road at 50 mph...Glad it hit the tire and not the road!

What do you mean?
Just last week I was able to use the chain saw and cut the ice enough to launch the boat. Only 37 days to summer... Hope I have that day off!

They make those trailers with u-bolts and clamp to custom fit many different sizes and hull com figurations.  Boat guys don't make their own trailers.

I got 25+ years on my eze-loader trailer, no problems.  i do NOT like the roller drive on trailers.  I special ordered mine with wood rail bunks; better for the hull, more area; and no hard load points.

If you have a trailer with black rubber rollers...get some of the amber colorer vinyl ones.  The black ones   are only good for about 10 years then they crack and actually fall off.

What are you guys doing out in Montan land.  I saw 10 inches of snow on the weather channel?????????

Got in 4 hours of musky fishing on Satruday, boat ran great.  But I need a new tach; it was just going crazy.
