I loaded up a years worth of coyote shot shell, for the three of us, one hundred. There a load I've been using and have patterned out of ALL our shotguns. I'm the only 3 1/2 incher so I went with my 3" version. I do have 30 or 40 rolled up in 3 1/2" If I want to use a 1 3/4 oz. retina detachers. I start by trimming off 1/8 inch off a 3" Rio hull. I weigh the charge and load on any specialty load so I put in 38 gr of blue dot and insert a MG-42 wad and press it down to 70 pounds and set it aside. I put powder and wad in all my hulls, box at a time. Then I'll put in the shot 1.5 oz. 41 pellets of lead "F" shot, and buffer, lay an over shot card or disk. Another press and I'll roll it with my drill. I have a drill Jig that's make a Kinda drill press set up, I find if I turn on the "Hammer" setting It makes a much better roll crimp with out melting it as bad. Last I run it through the taper die on my press and put a good bead of model glue around the card or plastic disk to keep it water tight.
I've checked this load several time for speed and with our Dead coyote extended ported .690 choke it runs right at 1340 FPS. This set up with all our shotguns will do a 80% pattern at 45 yards and Mine does the best of all of them, probably because the LONGER barrel. I can get 70% at 60 yards and still well over 50% at 70 yards. I'm talking a 24" paper. We just rechecked it on a skinned coyote body. At 60 yards we put 15 ( out of 41) pellets clear through with bone crushing effect, front 1/4 to head. I know the skin and hair will slow the shot some but we never hesitate on a dog at 60 /70 yards. If we get it in the front half they stay down!!!

D,

Is that one of the loads I shot at MYGAWDS a couple of years ago? As I remember, they were pretty salty.
