I loaded some Rio 3" cases with MM wads with 1 1/4 oz. ITX original #2 and some with my pet load of 1 1/8 oz. Duplex #2 and #BB 1/2 and 1/2 both with steel powder and fold crimp.
The speed came out just a touch above the printed speed. Printed for both is 1500 fps and I showed 1520 average. I didn't count the pellets in the ITX but in the steel shells I have 114 pellets. All 8 test shots, 4 of each, had about the same number of hits average of 89 . I was shooting my 870 32" barrel and Dead coyote .696 extended ported choke, and shooting a 24" X 24" paper at right at 40 yards, off hand and standing. The patron was most dense in the center and fanned out very smooth, LOOKED great. What I was wondering about was ; is the ITX that much better? It took an 1 1/4 oz. the get as many hits as 1 1/8 oz. steel. It costs over $2 a shot with ITX and about $.75 for a steel. Am I chasing my tail on this?
