Topic: Well, I did it Posted: 14 December 2003 at 16:44 |
I traded the berreta for an SKB model 585. over-under. I have always wanted an over-under and found a good deal. My gunsmith highly recomends SKB shotguns so I thought I did allright. Let me know what yall think. I did take it out and shoot it at some clays and on the third round hit 24 of 25 from 16 yards. Needless to say I was pleased.

SKB's are real nice gun's, better than Browning Citori's IMHO. I like the 785 class because of the high post rib, you'll get plenty of mileage on your 585.

Hey Wing
Congrats on the new over and under,I've always though it would be kinda cool to have one but I hunt in the bad weather so much and never have got into shooting trap or skeet. They have some pretty nice looking ones at the gun shop here,some high dollar ones and quite a few new Chales Dalys that really look fine don't have any idea if they are or not. Well Congrats again.

What is there not to like, with the SKB O/U??
What guage? I use a 20 guage SKB O/U for some of my rabbit hunting. It takes a real beating in brush and weather. No problems.

HA HA HA HA, got you!!!!! There4's no turning back now Wing. You have just been severly bitten by the shotgun bug. In the future, we'll be reading about you buying Parker Bros. shotguns. I'm glad I'm alone in the few that need STUFF. Good for you, and if you need any help locating new acquisitions, I have a handle on where a lot of the good stuff is available............................Kingpin

I held and shot the Ruger side by side. Maybe they'll get it right, it feels like a club, the wood to metal fit sucked, but it pointed nice. Parker Bros, ar the best of the American made guns though. Sometimes you can run across them priced right at gun shows or pawn shops, but it would be best if you didn't hold your breath between times.
Now Wing, just tell her that you bought it for health reasons, it worked for me once. I just told her, "If I didn't buy it I would have died." You are allowed one gun under those conditions, as long as you don't confer with her beforehand. If you do, you'll still be wanting one.................Kingpin

I'll try that Kingpin.
I will keep looking at pawn shops and gun shows til I find one priced right and tell her health reasons.
Thanks

Wing & King;
I gotta admit that a nice 20 gauge O/U with an English straight stock is on my 'want list'. It's not in first place - yet, but it'll get there. Throw one under my nose that has 26" barrels, replaceable chokes & a single trigger, & I may have a health crisis!

You see, I don't have a blood pressure problem per say, but, I can, almost at will, sumon up a nose bleed almost at will. It works like a charm, and it may have something to do with the mind games that I play in rifle matches. I just kind of will a nose bleed, and presto, I have a new gun........LOL..........Kingpin
