Hey Knife Guys, a little help.  My dad got this from a friend.  It was with the friend's father's fishing stuff, putting it in the 70-ish year old range.  The blade is marked Clave Mfg, Andrews IL.  One side appears to have a scaler, the other, this weird sharp edge on both sides.  Anybody seen anything like it?  Thanks, 788Fan

788   The pic is a little small and could use more detail.

I suspect it is a work knife for cutting some type of fruit, not unlike a grapefruit knife.  Possibly for harvesting something like pineapples???

best guess

thanks IBD.  still not enough showing.  Fruit knife is my best guess.  they make special designs for just about any fruit from oranges to bananas.   they are usually serrated and could look like a scaler.

Also commercial harvest knifes are made by any number of small manufacturers without much history in knife making.

just off the top of my head (not much up there anymore)!

Hey guys, after more research and a couple of lucky breaks, we found that it's an antique glazing tool (for those of us old enough to remember glazing windows).  As it was in a pile of old fishing gear, my first thought went to some sort of field knife. Thanks for this input. 788
