So Spot, how did the riding lesons end up? Never heard if you finished them or not, or got corralled by the redhead or blonde.

Things are winding down here in Colorado, getting set to winter in I guess. Elk seaosns were  pore at best with DOW reporting light kills. The last seaosn ended this past Wednesday, with snow only starting in earnest on Tuesday.  I'm sure next year, extra cow tags are going to be offered. This year there were only two, but I bet next year they go back to letting  a fellow have three.

I e-mailed Dave back about 2 weeks ago , but he was deer hunting. Haven't heard  form him since. I offered to take him on a archery pack in , the last week of September  next year.

Mules are getting shaggy from the colder weather, but I have been riding about every day and working the two young ones in harness. Figure on having them ready to hook to some weight and needs some time to fill out.

I'm leaving this Thursday for Pennsylvania  to see the folks. Mother is not doing well. Deer seaon opens right after Thanksgiving though, and I might get a few days in.

SaddleSore,

Hey good to here from ya, I still hang around here just a bit.  Anywho, finished up the lesson's without gettin my head ground in the dirt.  Did have a hoss drive his own head in the dirt (at least his chin anyway).  He actually tripped!  din' think they do that much.  We were riddin along a hedge row and a dead fall was stickin out about 8" in the lane.  This lug head wasn't payin' attention and my pullin to get him left didn't seem to bother'em too much.  Guess he hooked a foot don't have any witness's but the front end went down hard.  All I could think about was him rollin over me if he turnt while fallin.  He appearently had a hoof underneith him.  I laid back and held on (not easy in that damn english saddle)  he got back up and I got off to check him.  Nothin!  Had some dirt on his chest, chin, and upper leg's.  Didn't rile him much at all, so I got back up an we got goin again.  Only'st other thing I did wrong at all was scratchin the heel of my boot across the arse of one I was gettin off.  He didn't bust loose but he moved about 10 feet before I knew he was moving.  Got my other foot out before I turned over to unmount so it weren't a problem cept fer I was holdin  on that saddle pretty good and didn't let go so I po-goo'd fer a bit.

As fer red head's I didn't run into her again, I do have a new "Program Manager" at work who handles most my stuff.  Everytime she stop's by to do some work at my cube, I'll have a half dozen guy's I ain't seen in years stop by just to say hello.  Way she's dressin up is makin me ants'y, I keep askin her if she's gettin gussy'd up fer any reason (like an interview), but she tells me she dresses like thet all the time.  Only problem is I know it ain't true, we see each other all the time round work, and it's only day's were workin together thet she's dressed fer the kill.  Friday she wore a some kind of half see through blouse that had me wonderin what was under there (clothes wise).  My eye's must have been blood shot by the time she left.

Glad to here you hooked up with Dave, bastard's got some of the best whitetail ground I've ever seen.  You should be able to get into a trophy class if your timing's right if yer goin with him.  BTW - Dave's wife is a real looker too.

Well, you have a good trip to PA, hope yer family does better and get's healt up.  If you're driving give me a shout, let me know if you ain't got my phone number if you are drivin through.  (PM me)

Gotta run,  enjoy'd the read'n on yer NM hunt, and CO hunt.

Spot
