to make a long story short... last week i took a wicked spill on the ice while carrying my newly acquired rem 700 in 7 rem mag. i had just mounted the sightron 4-16 and ran a few test groups thru it and had it pretty well zeroed.

when i slipped, i came crashing down on top of my scope/rifle hard (concrete under the ice). i dinged the scope pretty bad, and put a pretty respectable gouge in the synthetic stock.

took the rifle out to the range today expecting the worst. group testing revealed the zero had shifted about 1" down, but the windage held.

i was impressed the scope even functioned, let alone held close to the zero...

Dang, I hope you are allright.

That says alot about Sightron.

I am in the market for a new scope. I want a 4-14 or 4-14. I am having a hard time paying the price for a Leupold. I might look at Sightron.

well, i took on a little damage, too - but i can heal. the rifle can't.

if you're down to a 4-14 or a 4-14, you should just go w/ the 4-14!

kidding aside, i went w/ a 4-16 s-2 with turrets on the 7 rem mag (be forewarned, the clicks are 1/8", which annoys me but isn't the end of the world... i thought they were 1/4). cabela's is having a 10% off sale next weekend for nra members (pm me if you need a coupon - the coupons came out in the nra mags a couple weeks ago) - you might look at a leupold there. 10% isn't much incentive, but it is better than none, i guess.

another alternative is the nikon buckmaster and monarch. i've had pretty good luck w/ nikon stuff. i just picked up a 4.5-14 buckmaster at the gun show this afternoon. my pre-64 m70 in 308 wears a monarch. no flies, either way.

As i get older I confuse easier. I meant 4-14 or 4-16.

I will look at several. I am waiting on some reviews from a couple of our guys on the new Redfield. Since it would ba a mail order and I couldn't look at it first.

I just looked through my American Hunter and found the cupons you mentioned. Thanks, I havn't noticed it before.
